National Governing Body Status
Ireland Touch Association (ITA) has endorsed a decision to seek recognition as the National Governing Body (NGB) for Touch in Ireland through Sport Ireland and Northern Irelsnd through Sport NI. This is a significant step in the development and recognition of the game and through our partnership with the IRFU should see the growth and continued acceptance of the game.
These are exciting time
To achieve NGB status there are significant challenges for the ITA, not least the change from an associatoin to a proposed company limited by guarantee. This will provide Ireland Touch with a legal entity and at the same time provide protection for the members of Ireland Touch. Ireland Touch will be adminstered by the new Board.
ITA will no longer be an association, this change of status will be refelcted in the logo, trade marks, web site, promotional material, email addresses and all manner of documentation.
Ireland Touch must meet Sport Ireland’s criteria for recognition, some of which we already meet. Many other criteria will require efforts by the current committee and others within the Touch community. Ireland Touch is extremely grateful for the advice of the Law Fim, Mason, Hayes & Curran through David O’Donnell to facilitate the new strucure and the process to be follwoed.
